Born in Honolulu, 1949, has a MFA, 1999, and a BFA, 1994, from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.   Akamine received the Native Arts Research Fellowship from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, New York, 1999, and a Pilchuck Partners Scholarship to Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood, Washington, 1995.

我、其浩、和瑪娜嬸嬸三人坐在走廊上談著、笑著、說著戰爭故事。躺在那桌上的是一種共同的存在,暴露出的癌細胞,期待著奇蹟的出現。

We sat on the porch talking and laughing, Aunty Myrna, Kehau, and myself. War stories.  A shared existence of lying on that table, cancer exposed, hoping for a miracle.
