Susan Denton
Born 1948,
London, England
Maintains a studio in Cornwall, England

Susan Denton began quilting in 1979 and has been teaching quilting techniques since 1982.  Her inspiration comes from the traditions of two continents: American Amish quilts and British whole-cloth quilts such as the Durham quilts.  Granite, which is based on a walk across the moors in Cornwall, depicts one of the area's landmarks, a stone celebrating the life of a fifth-century warrior, and includes English and Celtic place names that she encountered along the walk.

"Landscape is a palimpsest on which exist complicated inter-weavings of natural and man-made patterns."
